YOUTH PROGRAMS

Partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Lee County
The Sanford Housing Authority’s latest and most successful human service program is its partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Lee County. This satellite of the Boys and Girls Club, located in our Gilmore Terrace Community, has enabled the children of all our communities to access after school programs that provide them with tutoring, computer access for school work and caring counselors who serve as mentors. We provide after school pick up for this program.  For more information about joining the Boys and Girls Club of Lee County, please contact their main office 1414 Bragg St, (919) 776-3525.

ELDERLY PROGRAMS

Sanford Nautilus Exercise Programs

Residents of our Stewart Manor and Matthews Court complexes are able to participate in a weekly wellness and exercise program at the Sanford Nautilus. SHA provides transportation to the program and facilitates enrollment. These visits are at no charge to the residents.

Weekly Bowling Trips to Kendale Lanes

Residents of our Stewart Manor and Matthews Court elderly facilities are able to take advantage of weekly visits to Kendale Bowling Lanes, where they can bowl multiple games per trip at no expense to them. Transportation is provided for both communities for these outings.

Bingo Night

Weekly Bingo night is facilitated at each elderly complex by our resident service coordinator. Each complex has its own designated night for the event and bingo equipment and prizes are provided to each community.

For more information about these programs for the Elderly, please contact Ms. Bobbie Jordan, our Resident Services coordinator.

PARTNERSHIP FOR JOB PLACEMENT

We have partnered with several local manufacturing facilities such as Frontier Spinning Mills and Coty Inc. to try and help our residents get decent jobs in their community. We will be doing more of this in the future with other companies to help our residents find and keep decent jobs to help them become more self- sufficient.
